Thank you to all the members who
came out in support of their credit union and attended this year’s
Annual Meeting. We had a larger crowd than usual. Of course, we had
some great door prizes and the give a way of piggy banks was an
added incentive.
Paul Monson, our Chairman of the
Board, addressed the membership with a brief overview of credit
union business. Then, Dawn Swaningson, our President and CEO, shared
in great detail about the credit union’s business over the past year
and changes expected. We look forward to great things in the future.
Paul Monson and James Daniels were
elected to three year terms on the Board of Directors. Thank you to both
for your continued service to FFCU.
As one of the highlights, we
mentioned that FFCU has always offered a great credit card program,
but it seemed like it had been a well kept secret. We are trying to
get the word out and since the meeting we are happy to report we
have received several VISA credit card applications from you. Keep
them coming!
Thank you for your continued
support and we hope to see you at next year’s Annual Meeting.
Please remember to update us on any
address and phone number changes that you may have. This is
especially important if you have a debit card. Simply complete our
Change of Address Form and return it to us via fax, mail, or in
person. We also need this current contact information for your
protection from identity theft!
Because all member records
are stored at the 626 E. Wisconsin office, please remind check
recipients to come to that location to cash checks you have given
them!
Please remember to send
ALL mail correspondence to our current address (listed at the top of the
page). Any mail sent to our old address may be rerouted and/or
returned to you, which will cause your payments, deposits, etc. to be
LATE!
For those of you who are
retiring, changing agencies, or leaving the area, please remember that
Federated Family Credit Union has a “Once a Member, Always a Member”
policy. After opening an account, you will always be eligible to have
one with us, as will your parents, grandparents, children, and
grandchildren!
Keep Your Identity to Yourself Identity theft is the No. 1 consumer complaint,
according to the Federal Trade Commission. But there are
ways to protect yourself.
First, always take steps to shield your identity. For example: Never give
out personal information unless you know whom you’re dealing
with, keep passwords on your accounts, and shred all
personal financial documents.
Finally, order a credit report at least once a year. Scan the reports for
anything that seems out of the ordinary.

You've likely heard about some of the credit
card changes in the new CARD act. Credit unions largely conform to the
new rules already, and always have. If you already have a credit union
credit card - good for you. If not, now is the time for change.
You'll not only pay lower interest rates than you will with a
bank card, but you'll get low fees, a reasonable grace period,
and great member service that are just routine at the credit
union. It's worth the few minutes it'll take to compare the card you're
using with what you'll get using a credit union credit card.

Car-Buying Basics Help You Save on
Financing
The first time you shop for an auto loan
can be time-consuming and a little confusing. But, once you know these
car-buying basics, you’ll save money on financing your first car or your
10th:
1. Evaluate your financial situation. If
your credit history is spotty, clean it up for at least six months
before applying for a loan.
2. Compare annual percentage rates (APRs).
Some lenders will give you a rate break if you automate payments from
your checking account.
3. Consider buying used. The average cost
of a used car is less than half of a new one.
4. Get insurance quotes. Most lenders
require collision and comprehensive insurance on new and used vehicles.
5. Realize the less you borrow, the more
you save in loan interest.
6. Pay off the loan as quickly as possible
and you could save hundreds of dollars in interest charges.
7. Ask a Federated Family Credit Union loan
officer to preap-prove your loan so you can bargain for a dealer
discount based on a cash sale.
8. Understand the loan contract. A loan
officer can help you evaluate a loan agreement.
9. Make purchasing the vehicle, financing
the vehicle, and trading the vehicle three separate transactions.

of your vehicle loan needs.
Funds Availability Policy Change Notice On February 27, 2010, changes were made to the
Federal Reserve’s Bank check processing regions. Due to this
change, the financial institutions funds availability is
changed and creates new positive schedules for your
transaction accounts.
If we hold the funds, the time frames have been shortened.
Depending on the type of check you deposit, funds may not be
available until the second business day. The first $100 of
your deposit, however, may be available on the first
business day. If a longer delay applies, the funds will
generally be available no later than the seventh business
day after the day of your deposit.
